Prince George’s County Solar Co-op Initiative

Join the Solar Conversation

The Prince George’s County Solar Co-op Initiative, a collaborative effort between the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) and MD SUN, aims to educate communities about residential solar, help communities purchase solar in bulk, and increase residential renewable energy in the County.  The Council of Governments selected MD SUN as a vendor to form and support solar PV cooperatives in the County by implementing market development activities and providing technical assistance.

The Prince George’s County Department of the Environment and Office of Central Services Sustainable Energy Program will support the collaborative effort between COG and MD SUN through establishing community co-ops, publicizing co-op meetings and events, data collection and analysis, and facilitating co-op collaboration.

In September, MD SUN will begin working with Prince George’s County communities to form a cooperative purchasing group that will help homeowners county-wide install affordable, reliable, and carbon-free solar energy systems on their homes. Stay tuned for more info soon!
