Thank you to everyone who attended the first Maryland Solar Congress! The event brought together Maryland’s diverse community of solar supporters in an exciting dialogue on a range of solar topics. Below you will find PDF versions of the presentations made at the Solar Congress, as well as photos from the day’s events.
Tim Judson, of Marylanders for Energy Democracy and Affordability, explains how the state is planning to shift from centralized energy generation, distribution, pricing, and control to the decentralized integration of local, consumer-owned, flexible, and efficient energy. NOTE: Our thanks to Dr. Arjun Makhijani who stepped in and presented on this topic during the Congress at the last minute.
MD SUN’s Corey Ramsden provides an update on where we are in the process of implementing community solar in Maryland. He also shows how community solar can expand solar’s benefits to all Marylanders.
The state’s Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) has been a key driver in the growth of solar. James McGarry of the Chesapeake Climate Action Network explains how, and what the recent veto of an expansion to the RPS might mean.
